How to Decorate Your Office Walls

Posted on April 28, 2021

When designing offices, many people and companies overlook a fundamental element of the space––their walls. Nonetheless decorating your office walls correctly can dramatically improve your productivity and overall mood. While there are ample strategies for transforming a plain wall into a dynamic and exciting focal point, we have collected just a few. Here are our four favorite tricks for how to decorate your office walls:

Hang a Piece of Art

Decorating your office walls with art is an amazing way to inject color and interest into your room. However, it is important to consider the size and placement of your artwork. A large sized canvas is great for making a statement and unifying elements of the design. Equally as impactful is a small canvas on a large, plain wall. The contrast between the large wall and the small art piece emulates the layout of an art gallery and can add an edge of sophistication to your office. Even more important than the size or placement of your art is the idea that you love the art you choose, according to Ballard Designs.

Make a Gallery

All it takes to create the perfect gallery is an assortment of pictures that you wouldn’t mind looking at everyday. This is a great option for those of us who are inspired by abstract art, but love contemporary art, yet can’t give up neoclassical art. By decorating your office walls with a gallery, there is no need to choose between them!

Incorporate a Mural

Murals are a wonderful use of wall space, especially for companies, because it gives you the opportunity to clearly communicate your company’s values and culture in a visual way. For example, if your company prides itself on sustainability, showcase it on your walls. Similarly, if community amongst employees is a pillar of your company, convey that in your mural. Create an Accent Wall

An accent wall is simply one wall that is different from the rest of the three walls. The contrast between walls draws attention to the anomalous wall, making the space more exciting and engaging. You can create an accent wall either by adding texture or painting the wall a different color. Selecting a dark color such as navy or black for your accent wall is an effective strategy for adding depth to small spaces. This is because the dark color creates the optical illusion of the wall being farther away. However, if you want a more subtle accent wall, make the contrasting wall two shades darker than the rest of the walls. To see what Interior Motions can do with a wall, click here.
