The Smuin Ballet San Francisco is one of the Bay Area’s most popular and internationally acclaimed performing arts companies. They pride themselves on “push[ing] the boundaries of contemporary ballet within a distinctly American style, combining classical ballet training, technique, and artistry with uncommon physicality and expression.” As such a talented and reputable dance company, their performance center needed to enhance the overarching artistic experience. Interior Motions was brought in to do just that by adding banquettes and wall accents to their San Francisco location.
The banquettes for the Smuin Ballet San Francisco needed to be completed on time and within budget as to not interfere with the dancers’ performance schedule. Furthermore, the pieces needed to convey luxury, sophistication, and artistry to match both the building’s architecture and the company’s culture.

Interior Motions worked alongside Blueline Associates to complete the project on time and within budget. Additionally, Interior Motions was responsive to the clients’ feedback post-installation and made adjustments to the banquettes to ensure the client’s satisfaction.
The Outcome:
The end result is a breathtaking entryway to the theater that marries comfort, practicality, and sophistication. The emerald green hues of the banquettes appear to change colors under different lights, creating a dynamic and delightful overall experience.
